This guide will walk you through the process of importing your existing data into InstruManager.

This is appropriate if, for example, you have all your equipment information in an exiting spreadsheet, and wish to import it into your InstruManager database in one go. In this example, we will import a group of equipment items into the database.from a spreadsheet table. For the purposes of the example, Equipment Types have already been created, including any relevant attributes.

1 - Copy Headings to Clipboard

The first step is to copy the headings into the clipboard for the data type you wish to import. This is done by right-clicking the head of the relevant data type pane, and selecting 'Headers to Clipboard'. In this case, as we are importing equipment, we will right-click on 'Equipment' and select 'Headers to Clipboard'.

2 - Paste Headings into Spreadsheet

With the relevant headings in the clipboard, these now need to be pasted into a spreadsheet to organize the data. Open a spreadsheet program and paste the values in (in Excel for example, this is done by pressing CTRL + V).

3 - Organize the Data

With the appropriate headings in your spreadsheet, you can now populate each column with the information required. Use one row per item, and look for information in the row above the column heading for tips about how to format the information in the column.
